Cataract Gorge, such a beautiful place. We had spent about 4 hours roaming around the ground and along the walking tracks and a ride up and back on the chair lifts, viewing the lovely grounds. It was lovely to see the water spilling over the weir off the swinging bridge. We had lunch at the kiosk amongst the peacock, who were actively trying to snatch food out of our hands.

Today we went on a tour through the Boag’s Brewery. First they gave us an introduction of when Boag’s Brewery began in the 1800’s from the original member of the family who came from Scotland and it being past on from generation to generation. They took us through the working factory explaining the process of how the beer was made right through to the cleaning, filling, labelling and packaging of the bottles... It was a 90 minute tour and at the end sampling the 3 types of beers and cheese tasting. It was very interesting and enjoyable.

I am afraid we weren't able to take photo's of inside the factory.

This morning the sun was shinning. We left camp at 10.30 and set off down the road to Port Sorrell along the West Tamar Highway. It was a beautiful drive especially while driving along the Tamar River viewing it from a height which made it look magnificent. We are actually camped at Spring Lawn camp site in the Narawntapu National Park. Its a coastal type of Park, full of wombats, wallabies, possums and different type of bird life.

We have absolutely enjoyed being at this park, with the beautiful wild life that surrounds us from the minute we wake up in the morning till even in the evenings when the brush tail possums turn up on our roof at night. The pademelons keep us amuse during the day so beautiful to be around and even the possums come up so close to you and wait for Dave to give them there nightly treat....
We are going to miss these little creatures.

Monday another gorgeous day. We drove down to Greens Point beach for a look around, then to Clarence Point which had amazing views of the Tamar River and the Batmans Bridge.

Still touring around the river we then went to Beauty Point and had lunch along the shore before heading to Beaconsfield where we went to the Beaconsfield Gold mine and Heritage Centre.

Beaconsfield Gold mine and Heritage Centre. It was a self guided tour through, with lots of interesting things to see and reading the history of the tragedy of the caving of the mines which happened back in 2006. We weren’t able to go onto the sight, but can see the place behind wire fencing.

Dave checking out the woodlathe and Margaret watching the water wheel turning at the Museum.

While we were in Launceston, we spent some time at the City Park

Some photo's of some of the homes in Launceston.
Albert Hall near the City Park.
Darrel and Elaine Friends we had met during our holiday.
Who live in Waverly Launceston.

We set off early that day to Leven Canyon. It was a beautiful inland drive through some lovely country side. Forth was very beautiful place not far from Devonport, a crop growing region of potatoes, onions, carrots, swedes, and brussell sprouts on hill plains pastures. Lots of beautiful scenery all the way to the Canyon.

We arrived at the Canyon around midday, first having lunch before proceeding to view the Canyon. It was a short walk up a slight grade, through rugged bushland setting before reaching the cantilever viewing platform.. What a spectacular view of the deep gorge of such rugged land and raging waters along the gorge. It was a circular walk, down 600 or more steps and then back up a rather steep climb as we were told, so Dave and I just headed back the way we came, as Dave was finding it a little bit difficult with his leg and I would say I wouldn’t have made the climb back neither

Some lovely drives we went on while we were at the Narawntapu National Park.

It was a lovely day when we went over to Port Sorrell.  Dave did have a fish and managed to catch another Baracoota.  Instead of throwing it back into the water another fishermen was happy to take it home for a feed.

A week before we left Tassie, we were invited to stay with friends we had met during out stay in Riana earlier in our holidays. We travelled to Penguin where they live. Penguin a very lovely little town along the top of Tasmania along the Bass Strait. A very hilly place, but what place in Tassie isn't hilly.

We spent most of our days just relaxing and enjoying Murray and Shirley's company.
We did while we were there catch up with Darrell and Elaine again, as they travelled to Devonport to meet us for lunch.
We did go out for a day with Murray and Shirl for lunch and a drive to Boat Harbour. A very small place, but a lovely beach of pure white sand, a lovely place for swimming during the summer months.
